Not all Air Conditioners are the same - they have different efficiency ratings - called SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) ratings. The higher the SEER number, the more money you will save. As an example, a 13 SEER rating air conditioner will use 23% less energy than a 10 SEER rated unit.

By the year 2006, 13 SEER will be the minimum allowed efficiency rating in the United States.
